Meet Sheila and Evo
Sheila Dee and Evo Terra are addicted to traveling! Since January 2015, they’ve been living out of a suitcase and camera bag as they travel the globe. They call themselves The Opportunistic Travelers, and they’re sharing their experiences through travel photography, inspiring videos, and their weekly storytelling audio podcast.
Sheila’s love for travel sparked in 1989 on their ultra-cheap honeymoon to Cancun. She decided the best way for a broke 20 year old to travel the world was to become a travel agent. The “commission crunch” of the ‘90s pushed Sheila into education, and she spent the next decade helping her fellow teachers in K-12 and university effectively bring technology into classrooms. In the private sector, she had the fortune to provide instructional design services to universities, corporations, and New York Times best-selling authors.
Get a Postcard
In lieu of being independently wealthy, Sheila and Evo have come up with a novel way to afford their journey. Postcards from abroad. In short, you pick your pledge level, and they’ll send you a postcard from wherever they happen to be each and every month. You get a little something to show off to your friends. they get carpel tunnel. Oh, and a little cash to help the ShEvo train go for as long as possible.
House Sitting
Housesitting is the concept that got Sheila and Evo on the road to becoming The Opportunistic Travelers. The idea is simple: In exchange for some very basic services – feeding animals and keeping the place tidy – they stay rent free in people’s homes while they are away on their own travels or vacations.
Understanding the concept is one thing. Actually getting the assignments is another. There are many tricks, but the first one is to know where to look. Click here to see what Sheila and Evo have to say about unlocking your housesitting opportunity.
